Excellent school attendance is a priority for everyone at Ysgol Afon Wen. Pupils are encouraged to take advantage of every teaching and learning opportunity available to them at the school and in order for that to happen it is important they are here.
Good attendance is above 96%. Attendance under 90% is classed as ‘persistent absence’. Consistent attendance leads to better progress, stronger friendships and better levels of wellbeing.
Parents/Carers must report a reason for their child’s absence. ‘Unwell’ does not give enough detail and will not be authorised. Please call 01443 841228 or use Class Charts, to report an absence and to provide the appropriate reason.
We believe that education is a partnership. We will do everything we can to support families to ensure their children attend school, on time. Parents and Carers also have a legal duty to do this. To help, you can:
